Waste Processing

Household waste is one of the most important problems of megacities. Occupying a large space not only reduces waste scarce area, but also, more importantly, creates a serious sanitary-epidemiological and environmental threat. Dumpsites are the hub of pathogenic organisms, bloodsucking insects (mosquitoes, flies) rats. Slowly decaying waste emit toxic liquid and gaseous chemical compounds that pollute the soil, and with the rains fall eventually into the groundwater and watercourses. Unpleasant smell of dumpsites - a good illustration of exceeding all norms of MPC (maximum permissible concentration) of toxic gases. The downside is that dumpsites consist concentrated sources (containing the entire periodic table of chemical elements) for the processing industry. One application - waste processing into the fuels and lubricants: petrol, diesel, fuel oil. REDS Energy designs and supplies plants for recycling of municipal and industrial waste, solving the complex of environmental and economic challenges:
Environmental effect, by the physical positive impact guaranteed of the permanent proliferation focus of chemical and biological contamination; destruction/conversion of MSW and toxic materials into valuable fuels, instead of constant contamination of air, soil and water sources.
Economic effects – recycling and conversion of MSW and toxic waste into various types of fuel (such as coal substitute and EURO IV synthesis diesel). These fuels are being traded on local market, ensuring financial viability of project. The main principle of MSW processing plant is projected with the process of thermo-chemical gasification (pyrolysis). These technologies offered REDS Energy MSW allows to turn waste in desire quality products: liquid black oil fraction, suitable for use as a fuel oil for boilers or for further distillation in trade of fuel (gasoline, diesel fuel), and also semi-coking bio-coal which is in the form of coal pellets with a high-calorie value (5000-7000 kcal/kg) suitable for power plants, cement plants, steel mills, etc.

At the initial stage of the intake of solid waste from the dumpsite will be pre-sorting to extract the components of garbage without energy value: metals, glass, ceramics and building materials such as stone, cement pieces, bricks, etc. Remaining waste will be subjected to further processing into a valuable energy raw materials by means of pyrolysis. Paper, cardboard, wood, textiles, and food wastes mostly will give the output of hard coke with a calorie about 6500 kcal / kg, moisture content 6.4%, colo-carbon 40%, ash content of about 50% and volatile content of about 5 %. This residue will be processed into pellets, which will used as fuel for power plants, cement factories, steel mills, among other uses. Polymers and rubber, and partially above components will result in an output of the synthesis gas and the liquid fraction. The synthesis gas is used as a fuel for the pyrolysis chamber. The liquid fraction (pyrolysis oil) is subjected to fractional distillation to obtain commercial types of motor fuels. Bitumen residue will be used in the production of coke pellets.

Modular systems can process from 3700 to 110 000 tons of solid waste per year (365 days), with a daily capacity from 10 to 300 tons per day. Depending on the chemical composition and moisture content in MSW, processing plant produce 400-6000 kg of semi-coke and 100-1500 liters of diesel fuel per hour. Produced fuel is available for commercialization to oil traders and wholesalers.
Technology recycling process complex REDS Energy uses innovative technology fast pyrolysis feedstock, which is realized at the same time fast pyrolysis, physical or chemical activation. The using of separate blocks with different heat treatment and condensate closed recirculation systems provides the most efficient and full use of heat, either supplied from the outside, or formed as a result of chemical reactions. No harmful emissions are guaranteed by the principles of the engineering design of recycling process, advanced emission control and discharges purification equipment. In the first step, the waste is thermo-chemically processed (pyrolysis) in absence of oxygen. In this step highly combustible synthesis gas is being produced. Then it is supplied back to pyrolysis chamber and used like a part of fuel for processing.
The ordinary combustion (burning) of waste forms and releases into the atmosphere thousands of toxic and noxious compounds (dioxins and furans among other). The key difference between our process of thermo-chemical degradation and or combustion is the absence of oxygen, so many toxic compounds are not either produced nor released into the atmosphere (or meager amount within the MPC - maximum permissible concentration).
The processing of municipal solid waste using REDS Energy complex completely environmentally friendly, all emissions are meets the European standards of MPC (Maximum Permissible Concentration).
